Understanding Justice – Made Simple and Accessible

At the SAW Project, we believe that knowledge builds compassion. When people have access to clear, trustworthy information about how our justice systems work, they can become stronger advocates for fairness, dignity, and community well-being.

That’s why we love seeing resources like this one from Ghana – because justice education should be accessible to everyone, not just legal professionals.

Criminal Law Blog Ghana, in collaboration with Reduce Recidivism Ghana, has released an educational e-book titled:
Children and the Criminal Justice System in Ghana: Know Their Rights, Know Your Role
Released on October 1, 2025, this book is a wonderful guide for anyone who works with or cares about children — parents, teachers, social workers, justice practitioners, and community leaders alike.

The e-book explains the key legal frameworks for juvenile justice in Ghana, alongside relevant international provisions that help guide how we support children in conflict with the law. What makes it stand out is its simplicity – it takes complex justice concepts and makes them easy to understand for non-lawyers and non-correctional professionals.

The author, Selasi Kuwornu, Esq., is a lawyer and Ph.D. Researcher in International Crime and Justice at Florida International University. She combines years of courtroom experience with academic and professional expertise to create an approachable, insightful resource that helps bridge the gap between legal systems and everyday understanding.

This kind of work is exactly what the SAW Project celebrates – initiatives that reduce recidivism, promote awareness, and empower communities through learning.

Justice education, made accessible and compassionate.
