Excelling Beyond the ‘Old’ Normal

I recently had the good fortune to attend the 24th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) in Orlando, Florida. The theme was ‘Excelling Beyond the ‘Old’ Normal:  Corrections After the Global Pandemic’.  A host of workshops were offered that were detailed, informative, and inspiring. You may have seen our social media postings from a few of the many incredible presentations.

There were also constant opportunities for personal networking and information sharing during coffee breaks, meals, and receptions.  I was able to meet some of the 637 registered attendees from 71 attending countries who are leaders in their organizations.  Because of connections made during this event, the SAW Project is now able to collect further details about community supervision practices in Bermuda, Botswana, Columbia, Israel, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Singapore to name just a few!

After such a wonderful experience, it is with anticipation that I look forward to the 25th annual conference that will be held next summer in Antwerp, Belgium.  Here’s hoping that I’ll see you there.
